Project Description

The Rotary Club of Toliara, in Madagascar, is working to combat wind erosion and desertification in the deep south by planting 100,000 trees per year to contribute to the state's objective of reforesting 40,000 hectares each year. Tiomena, a natural phenomenon that causes dust and sandstorms in the region, has increased consequences in areas with low vegetation cover. This project consists of restoring degraded lands and setting up windbreaks by reforesting the area.
