We believe that a healthy democracy requires participation by its citizens in all aspects of civics and government. We also believe that those citizens must be educated and engaged for that government to work for all people.
Democracy in a Box is devoted to the practice of constructive civic engagement by:
• Exploring American founding ideals as a source of common ground & shared principles
• Educating ourselves and others on issues affecting free and fair elections & proposed reforms
• Practicing and modeling civility
• Deepening our practice of citizenship, with a view to the Common Good
• Assisting other Americans in evaluating institutional reforms, based on their own ideals
• Consulting to those championing reforms, with a peace building focus
• Sharing our knowledge and resources with as many individuals and organizations as possible
